Decided to make one of these for talk about NON-USI or OVC things. Will Wade and Shertz are potential candidates for the DePaul job Both would be solid choices. Wade is a recruiting freaking machine. He could be one that could actually win at DePaul. DePaul is a hidden gem and the right coach can win there.

I don't know what to make out of DePaul anymore. They have not had a winning conference record since 2005,their last year in CUSA. Whether it is money or something else, it has been a place which chews up coaches and spits them out. Being in a city that size, where they once had a great reputation, seems like it has just vanished. If I am Shertz I'd think twice before going there.
Anyway, I thought ISU was primed to be upset after a thrilling victory over BU last week. Darn near happened. Belmont is a decent team who plays very well at home. A win against Drake, and they will be primed to win the MVC regular season crown - but no guarantee of even a NIT. That will be reserved for Arkansas.

During the 1970's and early 80's Cable tv helped DePaul out. The Chicago tv market was on the cable tv packages and DePaul basketball was seen nation wide. DePaul being on national tv really helped out with recruiting. Then ESPN came along and other schools that were in conferences started to get national deals and that is what hurt DePaul and they never really recovered.

All I remember about DePaul was Ray Meyer and his great teams. After he retired they were not much of a power anymore. I don’t think DePaul is much better job than ISU. Now the main difference is probably salary. If the new coach can double his salary it might work.

NCAA is going get wiped off in a couple of years, maybe they will have control of the D2 and D3 for a little while. But the NCAA days are numbered now.

Big one tonight down on the Plains! Bama at Auburn! WAR EAGLE!
Would absolutely love if Bruce would contact USI and have a men/women's double header down in Auburn next year or the year after.

I think it will happen pretty soon. Not sure about double header, but that would be great if we could get it worked out.

UE with a statement win tonight. Knocks out any chance for Bradley to get at large bid. If SIU can knock off Drake now in OT they will be a one bid league. ISU would be their only chance at an at large if they can’t win their conference championship. Bradley looked like crap the whole game imo so I don’t think they should have gotten an at large anyway. UE might just be the spoiler in that league to keep the conference to one bid. If they can knock off Drake or ISU that would be bad for the MVC chances.

Missouri Valley will never get more than 2 bids.

Agree. But before tonight three teams had an outside shot at an at large bid. Bradley loss ended any chances for them. if Drake ends up losing tonight they will be outside too.
