Wow. Great to hear. I wonder why none of this was announced earlier like the women’s team. Hopefully we can be much more competitive in the newly formed OVC soccer league with 12 new and surely better players.

Agree. There were a few really great teams that were out of our class.

It's to bad the MAC men's soccer stayed together and did not fall apart. A men's soccer conference with Southern Indiana, Akron, Bowling Green, Northern Illinois, Western Michigan and Chicago State would be just enough schools for a AQ bid.

I’m happy the ovc started men’s soccer as a conference sport. I think in the next few years you will see a few other ovc schools start a soccer team. The fields are already in place because women’s ovc soccer is already being played. It wouldn’t cost a whole lot more to start up men’s soccer. At that point, we won’t need some of the schools that 12 hours away and they can find a closer home. Until that time, I’m ok with the teams they put in place. It gives us a much better opportunity to win more games and maybe someday contend for an ovc title. Just not next year or two imo.

I read on the leatherneckNation site Western Illinois will play in the Summit League for men's soccer in the 2023 season and then move to the OVC in 2024.

Hoping we can be more competitive in the NEW men’s OVC soccer league. My wish is that the new recruits are a big upgrade on what we had last year. We need to improve to be more competitive in D1 and the players we had last year were mediocre D2 level. Let’s all hope the new guys can change the mediocrity and make us a contender.

I really do not like we play 3 conference teams twice and 4 conference teams once. Hopefully when Western Illinois joins next year we play all conference teams once. But I do like the non conference schedule this year.

But I do like the non conference schedule this year. After further research it appears there will be two divisions in men's soccer. Eastern Illinois, Lindenwood, Southern Indiana and SIUE will be in one division and that's is why we play these schools twice and the other division will be Chicago State, Houston Christian, Incarnate Word and Liberty.

Makes sense….this league is much more favorable to USI.

Agree. There were a few teams last year that were out of our league great, and we were struggling to start our new D1 adventure. The teams now are more in line with our level although SIUE is generally really good in men’s soccer

Soccer schedule has been announced. Saturday night home game against UE looks appealing. I am hoping that UE would bring back the Prorehab aces soccer classic and UE and USI would be permanent members and two other schools would be brought in every year.
