I saw that Chicago State joined the Mid American Conference in men's soccer. I wonder if the MAC reached out to USI. The MAC does have men's and women's swimming.

I would be ok if USI stays in the summit for a few years to see how we do against them in D1. I know some of the teams are really far away, but the Dakotas dont play soccer, so that takes out 2 big long trips and we only have to play half of them on the road, so I think that is doable. I think we can fill out the rest of the schedule with other D1 schools within 6 hours to cut down on travel. I would have accepted the MAC, but since the Summit wanted us, I am OK with being there for now. What I would love to see down the road is the OVC sponsor Mens soccer. They already have womens soccer, so most of the schools already have facilities so not much added cost.

After looking at the schools in the MAC. The travel would be just about as long, if not longer. 2 of the schools are in south Georgia and others in West Virginia and MIchigan and Ohio. Not sure there would be much benefit joining the MAC for soccer.

The Georgia schools and West Virginia are leaving the MAC. With Chicago State joining the MAC for men's soccer that brings a total of 5 schools for men's soccer. This must be a minimum of 6 schools to get AQ status. If I were the MAC I would be eyeing Eastern Illinois and Southern Indiana for men's soccer.
