Just to lighten some things up after our tough regular season, would like to throw this question out to each of you. What two coaches get your vote for the best and worst coaching jobs in the OVC this season.
My own choices:
Best: 1) Preston Spradlin. He still gets the very most out of his talent. His consistency at getting his team play at such a high level is remarkable to me. 2) Darrell Walker. Not a big fan of his, but I tip my hat to him for just this year. His team roared down the stretch. True, he had the horses to do this - but recruiting may be the biggest objective of any coach.
Worst 1) Brian Collins. How TN State finished so low is beyond belief to me. I think the student manager could have gotten more out of this team. He is truly the one in the way that keeps this team from being the top of the OVC. 2) Brian Barone. After having SIUE's best season last year he took a big step backwards. Had very good talent returning this season but allowed his team to play one on one most of the time. His team should have done a lot better.

I’m sure some may want to say our own coach because of our poor season, but we just had probably the least overall talent and still managed to be competitive in just about every game. Yes, we lost a ton of games, but in conference games only we challenged every game and lost way more than our share in games decided by 5-6 or less. If we had Tennessee States players we could be dangerous.

I agree with the 2 worst. Both teams loaded with D1 talent and both teams weren’t very good, in fact we actually beat these 2 teams, which seals the deal.
Top 2 this year for me is Ryan Ridder from UTM and Marty. Ridder can flat out recruit and this year his talent took him to the title. Recruiting is 90% of your success and he’s one of the best at it. What Marty did was really rather amazing. Maybe it was as simple as hiring a good assistant coach, but as the CEO of your entity, surrounding yourself with the right people is critical.

I understand your points about Ridder and Marty. I thought about them as well. Despite the low ranking of the OVC a lot of our teams can play at a good level, at least some of the time.

Walker saved his job for another few years, it was rumored that he was going to get fired after this season. Depending how the later half of the season went
