I noticed that the Horizon League has only 6 schools in men's and women's swimming and diving. I wonder if USI fans feel that the Horizon League missed the boat when they did not invite Southern Indiana into men's and women's swimming and diving.

It really never made any sense to me.

I must admit I have absolutely no clue how it all works. I had never been to a swim meet in my life until I attended the USI vs SIU meet last year at the new USI aquatic center. It was entertaining but I have little knowledge of how the scoring works. Even though we are in the Summit League for this sport it appears most of out meets are regional in scope vs teams from Indiana and Illinois. From what I can tell, we will will need a few years before we are on par with the more established teams. That’s to be expected so I’m ok with it. I don’t ever see this as a revenue sport for us but rather a sport that can bring in maybe 40-60 additional students. Now that we spent millions on the aquatic center we might as well use it and see if we can build the program up to be regionally competitive.
