Here is a article in the Evansville Press January 7, 1979 page 45. "ISUE: 'That other school' awakens. "Wayne Boultinghouse is not discourage that the Indiana State University Evansville is widely regarded as "the other school in town." He pictures ISUE as a "sleeping giant," one just now beginning to awaken, flex its muscles and rumble for recognition. "We are not anywhere near our potential yet (athletically or academically) he insisted' Wayne knew the potential for USI 44 years ago. Now looks at USI today.

I remember that article and knew Coach Boltinghouse well, as I was one of his student managers. USI was indeed a "sleeping giant" that continues to grow to this day - both athletically and academically. The school's impact throughout the state cannot be measured. So very proud of what they have accomplished and what they will continue to achieve.
From an athletic perspective, my gut feelings is that when the school begins to tap more into their enormous amount of local alumni, and continue to put a strong product on the basketball court, we are to witness something very very special. It's going to happen.

Wish our campus was in waking distances to restaurants on game days…but a sleeping giant is about to be awaken

They are redoing the entire REC by Summer 2024, saw they have updated a few smaller things on the sports facility. They have been tearing out all the old signage outside the buildings and replacing them. A lot of it so far is just touching some things up and making campus look a lot nicer. But it seems like there is a lot more planned projections within the next 5 years. Would be nice to have USI Construction thread.

I think we will see facilities upgraded soon - baseball, soccer, softball. They just spruced up tennis courts too.

I saw they are planning to relocate the soccer stadium and make it bigger and move the main softball field to where the current soccer field is. The Baseball stadium has so much potential

I saw this in the obituary in the courier this week. I didn’t really know him but I remember him from when I attended USI basketball camp as a child.
