19.4% from the field for the first half. Lucky to only be down by 6. If we start making shots and limit our turnovers, only have 3 and they were all steals, we can win this. That’s uh not good [br It’s almost impossible to be this bad. I mean you have to really work hard to be this bad. SEMO SUCKS!

Mielke last 2 games can’t hit water falling out of a boat.

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. All I know is this program has fallen to levels I didn’t see coming.

This is a game they should have won. Powell and Hernandez are getting fouled left and right with no calls.

I think I’m living a real life groundhog movie. Another trip to the SEA. Another women’s win. Another men’s 4 point loss. What is this now, 12 times we lose in a close game that comes down to the final minute. Late in the game tonight we were 2 for 17 on threes before a few in the last 5 minutes. We missed about 10 free throws and a few front ends of one and the bonus…and lose by 4. It’s just a ridiculous bad joke anymore. We are officially cursed. Someone somewhere has 13 voodoo dolls of USI players and during each game they take them out and throw them against a wall to knock the sense out of them. No one has this much bad luck in one season…no one. I mean if we are losing every game by 20,30,40 or whatever I would say, well we just suck. But 12 times a game comes down to the final minutes and we are leading or tied or down a few but lose almost every one of them is just defying odds. I’m going out first thing tomorrow and finding this voodoo hut with our dolls and bringing them home for safety before Wednesday nights game. I’m also hitting up Walmart for a rabbits foot and the nursery for a dozen 4 leaf clovers. Anyone that has any suggestions on how to change our luck needs to post here so we can remove the curse. Yes I kid about this, but holy friggin cow I’ve never seen sooooo much bad luck happen to one team in a single season.

Hard to understand how USI may have had their best game in D1 with a victory at Morehead, and then spiral downward to the worst depths they have been yet. I think back to the beginning of the year when practice began, and it was then I think Stan knew this team would struggle with scoring points...that has rang true for most of the year. What is distressing to me is this team, for the most part, just never got much better. Stan barked a lot after losses...but that didn't change anything. Coaching staff took some gambles on some recruits and got burned...and overall talent on the team was low. For sure, this is year 2 in transition. It's hard. I just thought we might see some incremental improvements. But what separates the good teams from the bad is consistency...and our talent level , except for maybe a couple, didn't allow for it. The whole program from top to bottom needs to be looked at as USI goes forward. D1 is competitive as hell no matter what conference you are in. As a diehard, I will always want more and what is best for the program. USI needs to start now in deciding how they want to look in year three in transition and how they will get there.

Mielke is 3 out of his last 19 from 3. He is the only player on the entire roster that has shown he can shoot consistently. When you have assembled a team that is slow, not athletic and can’t shoot…..you have MAJOR issues. This is a complete rebuild….again. There is a high probability we will be just as bad next year than there is this staff miraculously starts recruiting better. I don’t think the AD has any real authority here, so the buck stops with El Presidente.

Agree with both on this because we need a complete overhaul. Here’s my list of what we need to bring in next year:
1. Big scorer 2. Big scorer 3. Big scorer 4. Big scorer 5. Big scorer 6. Big scorer 7 big scorer
Anyone that can’t score a lot, sorry but we pass on taking you on our team. He better damn well get Big Scorers next year so we can average more than 62 points a game. I know he loves defenders and I do too, but by God they better have the ability to put up 20 on any given night also. We can’t continue to bring in guys that are realistically ROLE players and aren’t a threat to score. I want to see at least 3-4 pure shooters on the team next year…and I don’t give a rats butt if they 6-2 and not athletic, but if they can fill it up from anywhere, then bring them here. We have to end the mentality of just going after the PURE athletic type that has no shooting skill or basketball IQ. Get some guys that are fundamentally sound and cab flat out shoot. Look at someone like Minnix. He’s not fast or athletic or flashy, but by God he can make baskets and he has high basketball IQ. You can teach defense but you can’t teach someone to be a natural scorer…you either have it or you don’t. Everyone has played or watched a basketball game and there is always that guy that just is a natural scorer and you can rest assured knowing he is going to be the guy on your team that’s going to get you 18-20 points every game…that’s the guy we need. Maybe 6-7 of THAT guy. Just please stop bringing in a bunch of guys that average 2-3 points a game because they have a 42 inch vertical jump or look flashy every once in a while. Consistent scorers is what we have to get if we want to start winning these close games imo.

He doesn't, I was telling my mom Rick, and to a lesser extent Stan, may have saved JMH's bacon or at least kept him from being put on notice. Imagine if the women AND the men were as bad as the men's team. If neither team makes the OVC Tournament, you start to wonder what changes need to be made. JMH isn't going to fire Stan he's been here since Stan was a player. Stan isn't going to fire Stan, as terrible as we've been we still have a strong contengent of fans who follow the team to away games. I'm sure Turoni's is making money hand over fist with the full back rooms for the coach's show so he's not giving a show to an empty room. He knows he's liked.
I said it at the beginning of the season and I'll repeat it, first coaches show Stan came out and said 'Year 2 of transition is the hardest.' I'm not sure he said it as a way to cover his ass because he knew this team wasn't as talented as ones in the past or as a way to lower expectations from the lightning in a bottle we had in year 1. Bellarmine is seeing it, they are year 4 so they can make the promises of 'Next year we are tournament eligible.' On the plus side we are 0-0 if we win 4 in a row we get to hang a banner and all of these woes will be an afterthought. 4 in a row for the men and 15 more (gotta come out strong next season to get that NET rating up) in a row for the women. Rant over.. Let's go Eagles!

Starting as early as next week we will start seeing the portal entry names popping.
