It will not help that the Leathernecks got soundly thumped last night. If USI puts forth the effort they did against MSU we can win. Defense is what wins games on the road, and our team has been doing that well lately.

Not the best scenario for us going into a team that just got thumped at home. I’m sure they will be fired up to not let that happen two times in a row. I’m not crazy about our matchup with them from a physical standpoint. They are much bigger and stronger at most positions and the first game against us I thought hey beat us up. If the refs allow a physical game we will be screwed. I’ll say:
Western. 82 USI. 72

When I pick USI to win it usually doesn’t bode well. Now this is most certainly a winnable game because WIU isn’t the most efficient offensive team. But we don’t match up with them real well and this is a game where Hittle will be missed. Can we play small ball to keep the offense clicking, but at the same time keep this large team off the boards? Last game they shot better than usual against us and won the battle of the boards. If we play small ball I imagine we might see more zone. Being the most rested team with an extra couple of days to prepare should help.
WIU 74 USI 68

I think Hittle will be missed for sure...it's going to be a tall order to win, but it can be done. USI is probably playing their best at this time. USI 75 WIU 74. Need KP to alter some shots and grab a few rebounds.

Will anyone do a round of bourbon if we win tomorrow? This win, IMO, will all but guarantee a place in the OVC tourney.

WIU projected starters:
G 6’1 180 Ryan Meyers (13.1 PPG) G 6’5 195 JJ Kalakon (8.3 PPG) G 6’4 195 Quinlan Bennett (7.9 PPG) G 6’5 200 Jesiah West (9.1 PPG) C 6’11 230 Drew Cisse (8.6 PPG)
Same lineup as the last matchup, Cisse will likely be a problem for most of the game with his rebound skills. Meyers, if he is open, is going launch 3s like the last time in SEA. Kalakon, Bennett and West are all great solid players to put up points. James Dent Jr off the the bench is a great asset for them, but the talent takes a steep decline after that.
