Absolutely pathetic coaching….this staff is just awful! There is absolutely NO reason this team is this damn awful. No excuses for how bad this team is. Getting thumped at home by this garbage team. It’s time to make a change!

I’m not going to blame Stan on this one. I know some stuff that happened tonight that not many know and how he didn’t go off is beyond me. I told him if I were coach I would have been ejected because I would have lost my s***. And Stan knew what they were doing with Booker but we couldn’t stop him. We did put AJ on him and nothing changed and Booker still scored at will. The game changed during the technical situation where we had the ball and a 6 point lead. They end up going on a good run and take the lead and we were forced to foul and Booker goes 10-11 from the line. It sucks and I’m tired of losing these close games but my hatred is 100% on the officials tonight for changing the game with about 8 minutes left and USI up 6. Their player said some stuff that should have had him kicked out of the game. It was highly offensive and he yelled it directly at our coaches and we got the technical when Stan tried to tell the ref. The difference in this game were the 3 in stripes and Booker. Should we be better. Yes, but I’m really sick of getting homered on our own court.

So many non-walk calls for EIU… I counted like 6 in 10 minutes in the 2H The calls were just sad imo. AJ and Hernandez just didn’t get many calls and both were just hammered repeatedly. I think if you would ask just about any coach if they would be happy getting to shoot 32-37 free throws in a road game…100% would take that any day. Well that’s what happens way too often when teams come here. It’s sad for me to say but I almost think some road games aren’t as bad for us as the calls we get at home. Not that we get great calls on the road, but I actually think it’s slightly better in many games. Only in the OVC would that be the case. I watch IU and Purdue and I root for both, but my god they both Homer the crap out of everyone that steps on their home court. Id be satisfied with a 50/50 number of calls on our court.

As the refs were heading to the monitor for a review they EIU player said "what are you looking at <n word> to Stan.

As the refs were heading to the monitor for a review they EIU player said "what are you looking at <n word> to Stan. The refs were just clueless last night. And no place for those type actions by the EIU players. I know Stan said something to Marty about the actions of their players and how he would not tolerate that if a USI player did the same thing. EIU player started the entire chain of events by fouling Hernandez and we end up getting a flagrant foul and a bench technical and EIU gets 4 free throws and ball out of bounds. That was the turning point that fired up EIU and lifted them to take the lead. The refs made the game about themselves instead of letting the players decide the outcome. It was just a sad display on their part.

As the refs were heading to the monitor for a review they EIU player said "what are you looking at <n word> to Stan. And the OVC like always will do nothing to address this. Player should have been thrown out right there. Instead they shot 4 free throws and got the ball out of bounds. I certainly hope this puts an end to the 'cheer when they announce Marty Simmons is the head coach.' crap. I'm too young to remember the games but I can reasonably assume that very few USI fans cheered when they announced 'The KWC Panthers are coached by Wayne Boultinghouse.' the only opposing head coaches that should get applause if they came to play against us would be Bruce Pearl, Chancellor Dugan and maybe Rodney Watson as long as he's not coaching a conference rival.

Letting one player score 30 pts is bad execution. And 99% of that time it was single coverage with Ah….new excuse why we lost last night. The refs! EIU player yelled at our coach what you looking at N*****. That’s why we lost. Campion guarding him. Their player calling Stan a name isn’t why we lost, but the entire situation definitely contributed to why we lost. We had momentum and a 6 point lead and the ball. The refs wiped all that out in one sequence of calls and they go on to build a double digit lead within a few minutes. Should we have overcome it, perhaps. Booker just was in the zone last night. He was feeling it and that happens in lots of games. The staff knew he was capable of that because in the pregame briefing coach Novsec told us that his main concern was Booker. He said Booker is fast and smart and knows how to shift to get to the bucket and his speed is a huge problem for anyone guarding him. Well, that’s exactly what happened. It’s not like our coaches didn’t understand it, we just had no way to stop him last night. If our talent isn’t as good as theirs, not much a coach can do from the sidelines.

The call against Hernandez was legit though. I don’t think he was being malicious but by the book it was the right call.

Talent not being good IS the issue. How is a 500 lb coach at Eastern Illinois out recruiting us? And it’s not the NCAA tournament he is out there selling given they have made it like twice in 40 years. How do they get a Booker on the team? There is a reason Marty made some changes to his staff. Looks like it worked out for him.

Yes, but it was retaliation by Hernandez. Hernandez was getting held, poked, bumped and fouled all night and rarely got a foul called. He shouldn’t have swung but I understand his frustration. I really thought we were going to win until that sequence of events occurred, but it just changed everything for both teams. We looked dejected and EIU got new life. It sucks and we should have just gotten more fired up after it, but we didn’t.

Eastern’s game plan was obviously to be physical with our guards and it caused Hernandez all kinds of issues. But when you have a roster that struggles to break 35% from the floor, it’s virtually impossible to win in this sport. Then giving up 81 points to a god awful team you just can’t do.

Talent is definitely the issue for this season. Several misses on recruitment and one injury that took out probably our top recruit. Then Tilmon getting booted off hurt even more. I have no clue how Marty gets any of those guys. EIU has crap facilities and no tradition yet he gets some good talent every year. Maybe it’s his assistant coaches, I have no idea.

Teams have been playing bully ball against us these last couple of games and getting away with it. Hernandez gets over twice the fouls he averages in his entire career is sus and then less than half the free throw attempts this season because he's getting beat on everytime he goes to the rim and it's not being called. If he gets his average number of points we probably win this game.
