I do like the idea of conference champion hosting the championship game. Maybe they should host all the games??? It place more emphasis on the regular season champion like it actually should be. Yeah, it is sad about many kids lack of interest in sports....but I can proudly say my boy is as intense about sports as I am. Despite being raised in St.Louis, he is all about USI (of course Dad had a lot to say about that). He currently is playing basketball at Larry Hughes basketball Accademy....in about 8 years he should be USI's starting point guard, so help is on the way (Sorry for talking about my family so much in this post). Glad your son is into sports. Most athletes are…probably why I am interested since I played basketball competitively until I was in my mid 30s. I was a gym rat from about 10 to 35 and spent every weekend in my 20s and early 30s playing as much as time allowed. I don’t expect everyone to be as interested as I am, but I do wish more casual fans would give USI a few visits every season. I loved playing too...used to go to a neighbors house whose drive way had a basketball goal that was lit up at night. Stayed until my parents called me home. Played my first competitive basketball games at the old YMCA. Back then all my friends loved the game. But you are right, I don't expect EVERYONE to be as intense about it as I am, but would expect at least some mild interests from most. For me it's a lot about pride in your city and your school. Videos games and such are just incredibly addictive to kids and I believe causes a lot of laziness and apathy. I could go on and on about that subject. But being the optimistic that I am, I know a lot of life goes in cycles....maybe people at some point will start finding their way back to the games. I sure hope so.

I hope you are right about kids changing because playing sports teaches life lessons and shows kids there is more to life than video games. I never played games at the old YMCA, but I went to Wayne Boultinghouse basketball camp a few summers which were at the Y. I was about 10 at the time. That’s where I learned proper shooting form and fundamentals. He would have us lay on our back and practice shooting the ball straight up in the air and we would try to get a perfect spin on our shot so that it come right back into your hand lol. I would go home in my family room and practice for hours perfecting my shot. The good old days.
