I think this game is pretty easy to break down. Can USI keep Minor and Taylor from going off and secondly can USI score enough points to win, which the second part will be the same for every game remaining?
Prediction:
SIUE 75 USI 65

I don’t feel confident on the road in any game so I’ll go with…
SIUE. 73 USI. 68

Early betting line has it at SIUE -8.

SIUE's offense is basically one on one basketball. They have really good individual talent, but the sum doesn't equal the parts. That is my take on them. It's entirely possible USI could pull this game out. I will take USI in an upset 62 - 61.

Shamar Wright is about as good as they come and Taylor is very good as well. It will be interesting to see who Stan will assign to guard them. But for sure, when either get hot they can carry their team. My biggest worry will be how Campion will be able to defend, and be able to distribute the ball. Hernandez and AJ once again will have to come up big. Not to beat a dead horse, but here is game when McCord would have been invaluable...he was a defensive stopper at the juco level and would have had a better shot at defending Shamar.

I forgot to post an optimistic prediction last Saturday, and we all saw how that went. My apologies.
Optimistic prediction for tonight: USI 69 SIUE 65

I don’t know what to think about McCord not playing all year to be honest. Is his injury so bad that he can’t play or is Stan just saving his 2 years eligibility for next 2 years or is McCord just stretching out his injury so he can take his 2 year’s eligibility to a new school? I want to be optimistic and hope he stays and gives us 2 years of quality basketball but in this age of portal happy players, that thought is always in the back of my mind. I agree we could really use him now…as well as this entire season. We all are left to imagine what this season would have looked like with a healthy McCord and Tilmon playing guard, but sadly imagination is ALL we have left. With those two we still wouldn’t have been a great team, but I really think we would have been a middle pack OVC team at least. I hope we can keep this game close and maybe even pull off the upset. Playing against the best guard combo in the conference with essentially our 2nd and 3 rd string level guards is going to be a real challenge. I’m hoping for the best.

Hard to know about McCord for sure. His value would not be considered any higher than what it was when USI signed him. He might also be considered by other potential suitors as "damaged goods". McCord would also know he would step in right away and get abundant playing time. I think (could be wrong) a big part of the reason for the ambiguity of his circumstances may be the HIPPA laws. The school is not going to say a word about his injury because of that. If he were healthy Stan would certainly play him this year. If Stan felt McCord was "playing games" with him by waiting to transfer out, if would seem to me he would have told Mccord "adios". I am just speculating of course. I was really high on him when USI signed him. There is zero doubt in my mind he would have shown us something better than what he have already seen.

SIUE projected starters:
G 6’0 190 Demarco Minor (12.6 PPG) G 6’1 180 Ray’sean Taylor (13.7 PPG) F 6’8 250 Terrance Thompson (6.0 PPG) F 6’7 200 Shamar Wright (15.7 PPG) F 6’7 205 Lamar Wright (10.1 PPG)
Since A few you already have some insights on SIUE, I won’t say much. However, SIUE starters play heavy minutes and will play about 8 deep in their games. They don’t foul much judging by their averages at home except for Lamar Wright. Minor is somehow their leading rebounder averaging 8.5 rebounds. They do have a decent 3 point shooting game too at 36.%.

Per Stan on Pre-Game Show- KP is not living up to program standards. Not with the team tonight.
