UE got some men in their lineup. Of course we pitch a guy who hasn’t pitched much all year. I would never play UE until we are serious about challenging them. Why on earth did the coach start Weihe? Bottom on the 6th UE has 7 hits 5 of the hits are from Weihe. Bottom of the 6th UE has 10 runs 7 of the runs are from Weihe. Take Weihe out and UE would be winning 3-0 and USI would be outhitting UE 3-2

I just checked the stats on our starting pitcher that gave up 7 runs and ended the game in one inning. He isn’t even one of our top 15 pitchers…wtf? Why on gods green earth did he start? This looks like Arch wanted to lose the game right from the start…and he got his wish. This guy barely played all year and he gets the start in this game…Arch needs to apologize for this. That’s like starting all your walk ons in the NCAA and then wonder why you got your azz kicked. This is just puzzling to me. We have 6-7 guys that are pretty darn good, yet he went with our 18th best pitcher…SMH.

Go out and try and win every game when nothing matters now. We have some good players on this team. But we have given away at least 6 games this year pitching guys who will likely be cut at and of year.

USI needs better baseball, soccer and softball facilities if we are going to get better D1 recruits. Why would a local company invest in USI after a showing like this?

And we lost so bad the game was shortened. John Mark Hall needs to apologize to the USI fans who made it to the game and give their money back. Highlights at the local tv stations are going to be embarrassing. We just took 5 steps back on the PR front.

He will broker the worst deal possible and just keep smiling. All his decision making needs to be making needs to be yanked.

I see where they pitched one of their top 4 pitchers in terms of total innings pitched. We pitch a guy that has barely sniffed the field. I don’t understand it. I looked and they lost to SIUE recently and we just swept SIUE in 3 straight. Not saying we would have won because they have a solid team…their best team of any sport they play…but if we pitch one of our top guys, this is likely a close game. I’m still trying to understand why Arch decided to do this.

We accept playing second fiddle to a a school that has no business getting this respect.

It would have been nice to play them in women’s basketball because it wouldn’t have been close. We play practice scrimmage games against them multiple times and I was told we beat them handily. They are very strategic in which sports they play us and when. I wish we would do the same. We just say yes whenever they ask and it’s usually when we are not at our best talent wise. That’s on our AD and coaches for agreeing to it. As a D2 team we were just happy to get a D1 game. But now we need to be more strategic so we can give ourselves a fair shot.

I can see it now. UE and USI are recruiting the same star pitcher. UE can say " we have a better baseball facility, play and compete in a tougher conference and we just kicked USI's ass so bad the game had to be shorten. USI can say well we don't have a baseball stadium. We are not eligible for the D1 tournament and we just got our ass kicked by UE because we started one of our worse pitchers.

Does anybody know if Weihe startedd any other game this season? A day later and I am still angry Not that I’m aware of. But I don’t know about the early season games because they were all on the road. I just can’t understand his thinking on this. We have some damn good pitchers this year but he elected not to use them. I know it’s customary to save better pitchers for important conference games, but our opponent used their 4th most used pitcher…who pitches heavy innings regularly. It really makes me question his motives. After we put in one of our rotation guys the slaughter ended and it was a close contest. We only gave up 7 hits so it’s not like they had 20 hits, unfortunately for us their hits were home runs and against an unknown and unused pitcher.

I’m still trying to understand why Arch decided to do this. That is because UE knew how important this game was PR wise and played to win. When USI played Southern Illinois when Arch put W. Kiesel with two outs and nobody on base after 3 runs scored Arch pulled Kiesel out after 14 pitches. Not only did put Weihe to start Aerch finally pulled Weihe after 2/3 innings and 43 pitches. So it is clear that we had no plan to win wich is to bad because it was the biggest PR game of the season. Shorthaircut is right if we are not going to try to win then just do not schedule UE and save the embarrassment.

Need to get 1 of 3 against UALR and then get 2 against WIU. Do that and we are a lock.
