Easy straight set victory for Bellarmine over USI. Good news is we play a team in New Orleans tomorrow that quite possibly we can beat.

We missed a wide open kill that would have ended the match, NO steals the 3rd set. Let’s hope this doesn’t come back and cost us a win.

Momentum has completely changed. In what should have been a straight set victory now very well could be a loss….

They were almost dead in the water in that 4th set. I didn’t feel good about our chances in a 5th set. But any win is worth celebrating. Now need the soccer ladies to get a W tomorrow.

I hope USI can get those wins against those schools.

Straight set loss to Murray, took a step back today as this was one of only a small handful of games we likely could win. As I’ve stated before many times, this is just how things are going to be until we can have 100% of our athletes be D1 level. I agree that we are better than last year but that’s not going to mean we win 20 matches this year. If we can win 6-8 that would be a positive shift. The 4 year ban on post season really handicaps us on recruiting. We are just going to have to be patient in most sports until this is over. I have researched several teams that recently moved up to D1 and most faced exactly what we are experiencing now. The good news is that most have adjusted after the 4 year ban and are now much better off record wise and competitive wise. There are a few exceptions like our cross country, softball and basketball, but those are rare for a team moving up. I hate losing more than anything or anyone, but you can’t be D2 one day and the next day be top dog in D1……it takes time. It sucks, but that’s just how it is unfortunately. I just cherish the wins we can get in these fall sports until we get up to speed after the transition period. Did you happen to see how many coaches were retained from a school going to D2 to D1?

Pine Bluff should be an easy win and Jacksonville State most certainly could be a win.

I didn’t dig that deep. Sorry. I would guess some were let go and some stayed. This is a business now and results matter. If the coach is competitive and seems hungry, I’m ok with retaining all of them. However, if they are getting blasted and didn’t perform even at the D2 level, then imo we have to make adjustments.

Dominating win against a team they needed to bury. Get rested up as Jacksonville State is winnable.
