Is IU-Fort Wayne on the schedule again? I was impressed with them last year, and thought they might win the Horizon. They ended up being a disappointment. Yep we get them at home this year I believe. They looked awfully good to me last year when we played them.

Anyone have an idea when we’ll some info regarding MBB/WBB schedule? Also season ticket info? Last year, it was Mid July when the OVC schedule was released, and early August when tickets and the non-conference schedule was released, at least for the women.
I'm also interested when both the MBB and WBB fill their open assistant coaching position.

I looked on the internet to see all of the MTE's for the 2023-24 season. Does anybody remember a time when all of the MTE were the Great Alaskan Shootout, The Maui Classic and the Preseason NIT?

UTM way too low….I would currently slot them as high at #4. Morehead, SIU and Tennessee State I see as the top 3 by a considerable margin.

I will gladly take 3rd place but I think it’s maybe a little high without seeing our totality new team. I also don see Martin in last as probably ending top 5 imo.

I am just now reading this...been a busy last week and not much time for being on the board. Seeing USI picked for third was quite a surprise, let alone a great show of respect. USI lost all of their key players...so a lot of people must really like our recruiting class (besides ourselves.) If TSU finishes below third place their coach should be fired after the season. UTMartin will in no possible way finish last. And anyone who feels EIU should be picked ahead of anyone else is in need of psychiatric care.

Agree. Unless EIU pulls something out of their backside, I think they end up last.
Sorry I am just reading and responding so late. I took the whole family to Disney for a week. Now that I’m home I can catch up on USI sports.

Proud to see 27 USI athletes receiving all academic honors. Love the true student athlete in this day and age when so many just want to sign NIL deals.

Any thoughts at all if the current realignment at the power5 level, and the PAC12 going under, will have any ripple down effects into the OVC?
Personally, I don't see this as being successful for anything other than football. I just don't see how a team like Oregon can have it's softball team fly cross country every other weekend. How would a team like Washington handle playing a Wednesday night basketball game in Happy Valley? It would be a three day trip.

Since there seems to be a lot of talk of the last three schools in the Pac12 to be pushed out of the Power 5, I say invite Oregon State, Washington State, and UCal into the OVC.

How would a team like Washington handle playing a Wednesday night basketball game in Happy Valley? It would be a three day trip. Personally I think it’s all ridiculous. I understand it’s all about more money, but as you mentioned, the travel for the athletes is just going to be horrific. Football is only a handful of games which is not too bad. But, every other sport where there are 12-18 games that are cross country…….and that’s just the conference games , is going to drain a lot of athletes energy. Not to mention the time for the athletes away from campus and classes. I don’t see it having an impact on the OVC unless they decide to form a separate division for the P5 schools only. If they do that it will ruin college basketball and the tournament will be boring for the average fan unless your team is in it. The biggest draw now is watching David and Goliath play. I couldn’t care less watching Penn State play Kansas State. I don’t see it happening though because I think most know that’s what makes it unique and draws in everyone……even people that don’t watch games all year. On a separate note, I am more interested in how/when they are going to expand the tournament. What I would love to see….although not likely….is the top 2 teams in each conference get an automatic bid. This would really help the mid majors. This would leave 36 at large bids, which would all go to the likes of the 8th place team in the big 10 for example. I think 96 is the right number of teams and this would eliminate play in games….which I have hated from the start. I think a better option is give first round bye for the top 32 teams. Then seed the other 64 and the first round winners then play against the 32 teams that received the first round bye. This way you still get several small schools playing against the top 32, but they also at least got a win in the tournament. This also still makes it possible for those big upsets, which the fans want to see. Just my two cents worth.

What I would want most (will never happen) is to expand the number of teams into the tournament for sure, but to qualify you cannot have a losing conference record. That just makes common sense to me.
