10th loss in a row, this time to 3-22 Lindenwood. Coach has someone in the lineup batting under .100.

Yep, that’s not right then. Call it what one may, but if his son is the best option we have at 2nd base, then this coach has a lot of questions that need to be answered.

This type activity is part of what got Simmons fired at Ue. He was playing his son when more talented kids sat the bench. I don’t mind playing him if we are up 12 in the last inning, but he shouldn’t be in there during competitive games.

Couldn’t agree more….unless your kid is a stud, which his is far from it, nothing good usually comes from this situation. Resentment always sets in and destroys the team moral.

11th straight loss as they fall once again to Lindenwood. This program went from being the best on campus to really bad quickly.

Great win for the baseball team. Now lets get 10 wins and a series win against a OVC team.

The biggest difference in baseball between D1 and D2 is pitching. USI needs more pitching and more consistent pitching. Many times started and relievers with throw 3-4 good innings only to give up a big crooked number after that. Offense has been decent this year and have not had really any team completely shut them down and as the weather has become warmer and the team has had more time on the field rather in the PAC the defense has really limited errors and have been solid. Remember that USI is in year 1 of the transition and as they become more established they will be able to recruit a higher quality of arm for the mound. Get out to the field if you can and enjoy some baseball and finally good weather in Evansville.

I watch a lot of SIUC baseball and they have 8 guys in the lineup on any given day that can hammer the ball over the wall. This USI team lacks power hitters big time.

SIUC is an established MVC baseball team with a long track record of great MVC teams. The other thing to look at if we are comparing home runs is home field fence distances. I am not saying you are wrong but USI is 355 down the lines (SIUC's itchy jones Stadium is 330 down the lines) and 370+ in the gaps. That creates a large outfield area. USI has never been a huge power hitting team over the last 40 years excluding a few years in the late 80s and early 90s. USI teams are built more like the St Louis Cardinals and Whitey Ball. Speed and gap hitters to take advantage of the field as well as speedy outfielders to patrol the outfield.
I feel with time you may see some bigger dudes as you say maybe playing the corners on the infield and hopefully a lot more and constant arms on the bump. Remember year one of a new era and Arch is still a helluva coach.
